Join us in creating a culture of peace!
Creating a culture of peace is an elusive goal, but one that has long been on the agenda of the NY State Council of Churches. With war and possibilities of war in our world today, the Council would like to invite you to become active participants in an internet discussion group on peace related issues.
The Council gets frequent updates from our interfaith partners in DC and their colleagues, such as Churches for Middle East Peace. We also hear from groups our denominations are involved with such as those banning torture and eliminating weapons of mass destruction. If you decide to be part of the discussion group, you would receive selected information from these sources inviting discussion about them.
The discussion group we are proposing would be by invitation only so you would not have to worry about receiving an e-mail box full of spam. You could pick and choose the issues on which to respond. You would also be able let others know of peacemaking events in your area.
The mechanics of participating are simple. Here is how it will work
A Google Group has been created called “Creating a Culture of Peace.” Because it works by invitation only, you need to request membership. Please send an e-mail by clicking our e-mail address here: nyscoc@aol.com, and then sending it. Your request is in the subject line, so all you have to do is click and send.
Once we receive your request, we will send an invitation by e-mail from the Group. When you receive that e-mail, just follow the directions and you'll be a member!
Through the discussion group you will keep in touch with others concerned about peace issues. We hope our interaction will make us all bolder and spirit filled as we take the yearning for peace from the sanctuary to the streets and halls of power.
